How far would you go to find the perfect cat or dog? One Oklahoma woman drove 12 hours to adopt her new pet waiting to be adopted in Cloquet.

Kelsie Harrison loves black cats with blue eyes. She said it's a very rare combination.

While looking online for a cat, she found Sinatra, a black cat with blue eyes up for adoption at the Friends of Animals Humane Society in Cloquet. She lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but Sinatra seemed like a good fit, so she rented a car and made the trip to northern Minnesota.

As for fears of whether or not the black cat would be what she expected, Harrison said she had none.

"I do a lot of soul searching. I don't just go, 'oh, that one's cute, I'll take that one.' I put a lot of thought into it, read up on it, ask a lot of questions," she explained.

Some shelters won't let people adopt out of state, but Harrison said the Friends of Animals Humane Society were willing to help.

Harrison isn't sure yet if she'll keep the name Sinatra, but she is sure the road trip was worth picking up her new companion.
