The Wisconsin governor's race came to Superior this Fourth of July.

Mary Burke, a democratic candidate for governor, stopped by the Superior Fire Hall after marching in the annual Fourth of July parade.

The former Trek Bicycle executive said one topic keeps coming up as she talks with the people of northern Wisconsin, and it's all about jobs.

"We're dead last in the midwest in terms of job creation and we need to do better. We know the northern part of the state has been particularly hard hit and as governor, I'm going to focus on what we can do to create jobs," said Burke.

Burke said creating jobs will require some investments. She also touched on the legislation regarding the potential iron ore mine in northern Wisconsin's Penokee Hills.

Burke said she believes the legislature can balance protection of environmental resources with job creation. She said the current legislation does not balance those needs.

On Saturday, Burke will be in Ashland.
