Duluth Mayor Don Ness weighed in on the effort to recall City Councilor Sharla Gardner on Wednesday.

A group on Park Point called the "Concerned Citizens for District 3 Safety, Security and Representation" is trying to get the 585 signatures needed to start the recall process.

The group says that Gardner has failed to represent the constituents of Duluth's District 3. Mayor Ness posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, saying that in his opinion, the recall petition "has no valid basis."

"As a 3rd District resident, I stand with my district councilor," Ness wrote. "Starting a recall petition based on policy disagreements and personality conflicts seems vindictive and misguided."

Ness said that the voters of District 3 should express their frustration in the 2015 election.
