Peterson-Anderson Flowers prepared nearly 3,500 flowers for Grandma's Marathon as they are they official florist of the marathon and have been for 30 years.

Sixty bud vases will be delivered Friday night to the hotel rooms of the female elite runners and 3,200 carnations will be given to the female athletes who finish the full-marathon on Saturday. The floral shop will also provide the arm bouquets for the winners at the award ceremony.

Duluth native and owner of the shop, Karen Anderson, said she's glad these donations run close to home.

"This is a hometown thing that I've watched grow over the years to the thousands that are running on Saturday," said Anderson. "It's just been something that's been near and dear to my heart with family, giving back to the community, supporting the community and supporting the runners."

Grandma's Marathon began in 1977 with just 150 participants.
