New Life for Old Cook School

The old Cook School still has many pieces of its history inside, even though the building hasn't housed students for years.

But you can get your hands on some of the leftover band uniforms, sports equipment, and even old projects, at an upcoming sale at the school.

The Gillson family purchased the 120,000 square foot building in February. Rock and his sons Josh and Caleb showed us around, what they hope will eventually be called the Redwater Complex.

"It was a family decision," Rock told us. "We walked around last August, and it was in good shape."

They want the community to come and see what has been left behind. So they've coordinated a sale of the items on the same days as the Million Dollar Garage Sale, this Friday-Sunday.

Once most of the items like desks and old school equipment is gone, they plan on having vendors in the school. They're looking at possibly a wellness center, and even townhome type living!

"We're big dreamers. You know that old adage, 'Go big or go home?' Well, we definitely take that to heart and strive for that," Josh Gillson said. He and his brother Caleb went to school in Cook, and have had fun remembering some of the good old times.
