Superior Water, Light & Power are warning their customers about a new scam targeting individuals and businesses.

The utility company says they have had reports of scammers calling customers and posing as employees of the company. The caller then demands an immediate payment or risk discontinuance of service.

Superior Water, Light & Power says that they will always send a written notice before service is disconnected and customers should not engage anyone requesting payment via phone.

If you think you are dealing with a suspicious call, the company says you should hang up right away and call their office at 715-394-2200. If it occurs after normal business hours, contact the police.
