A Hollywood-worthy reunion in Duluth Wednesday.
Patty Duke is in town for the Duluth Superior Film Festival. She said during a press conference she would like to reconnect with the Duluth woman who played her baby in the movie You'll Like My Mother.
"She was a dear little thing," Duke said. "They wanted her to cry and she was the sweetest baby. She had nothing to cry about."
The baby was Laura Adams of Duluth. Adams is living in Seattle, but connected with Duke via Skype Wednesday. Eyewitness News was there for the touching reunion.
"Oh, my goodness!" Duke said when Adams first popped up on the screen.
The two chatted about many things, including a connection over mental health issues.
"I'm going back to school right now to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner," Adams said.
"Oh, God bless you," Duke replied. "We need you so badly."
Duke struggles with mental illness and is a big advocate to get more people help.
"I can't tell you how that warms my heart," Duke said. "I knew I was looking at a little baby that was going to do something good."
Adams was only one week old when filming started on the movie filmed at Glensheen.
While Adams and Duke were happy to catch up, that wasn't the only reunion Wednesday.
"Oh my gosh, she's me!" Vi Adams, Laura Adams' mom, said.
Vi Adams was on the set of the movie too. She stopped by to reconnect during the Skype interview.
"It was so cool," Vi Adams said. "I feel there was a kindred spirit. I always felt that even when I first met her."
There will be a special screening of You'll Like My Mother Sunday at Glensheen.
