A new charity run hit Duluth on Sunday with an explosive dash of color as participants took a lap around Bayfront Festival Park.

Runners got doused with neon chalk during the Color Dash 5k. The run was brighter than most fundraisers of its kind, and organizers said it drew about 2,000 participants. The event wasn't competitive so families got in on the vibrant action.

“It's so fun. It's so fun, and the kids love it. Everybody loves it, and we all dress up and do whatever,” Alison Johnson said. “I've done other 5ks, but this is probably the most fun. Everybody gets dressed up, and we do fun things.”

The Color Dash raised money for Amberwing, a center for youth and family well-being. Organizers expected the 5k to bring in $30,000 to help provide mental health and substance abuse treatment to children and young adults.
