A national commercial for a Northland company hit the airwaves Monday. Locally Laid was competing for an ad during the Super Bowl, but it turns out second place isn't too bad.
The company got a 30-second commercial that will air over the next five weeks. It was produced in California on a set using stunt chickens that were in a movie.
"When you look at the potential of where this can go and what this might mean for not just local food, but Locally Laid, it's kind of fun," Co-owner Jason Amundsen said.
Ideally, Amundsen said the TV commercial will create interest in Locally Laid. They're hoping to partner with farmers all over the nation and are already breaking into the Chicago and Indiana markets.
"We're opening three new farms in Minnesota this summer and early fall," Amundsen said. "We hope to open up a lot more."
Amundsen said he plans to have seven or eight new partners by the end of the year. That will help stock restaurants with local products like the Duluth Grill.
"I think it's great," Duluth Grill Co-owner Tom Hanson said. "I think they're bringing a marketing aspect to organic products."
The Duluth Grill has a dish almost completely made with ingredients from Wrenshall.
"The pasty is kind of recognizing the farmers of Wrenshall," Hanson said.
The Locally Laid co-owners said the commercial would not be possible without community support. You can see the entire commercial by clicking here.
