Created: 05/05/2014 12:27 PM WDIO.com

The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office says a southwestern Wisconsin man has been arrested after investigators found an indoor marijuana-growing operation in Hayward.

The investigation began with a report of drug trafficking involving high school students in Vernon County, south of La Crosse.  A suspect in the case owns homes in both Stoddard and Hayward.

Authorities executed search warrants simultaneously at both homes.  The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office said investigators discovered a sophisticated indoor hydroponic marijuana growing operation with about 67 plants in the Hayward home.  Processed marijuana, guns, and cash were allegedly found in the Stoddard home.

The 56-year-old man was arrested Friday morning.  Sawyer County authorities said at least two more counties have been linked to the case and more arrests may be forthcoming.
