ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota's unemployment rate remained at 4.7 percent in January, with employers adding 600 new jobs.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development says Thursday that January's figure was unchanged from the seasonally adjusted revised rate of 4.7 percent.

The U.S. unemployment rate for January was 6.6 percent.

State officials released revised figures showing Minnesota gained 12,661 more jobs than initially reported during the previous 21 months. That put the state's total employment above 2.8 million in December for the first time.

The leisure and hospitality industries led all sectors in January with 3,000 new jobs. Job losses came in trade, transportation and utilities.

Minnesota added 52,160 new jobs in the past year - a growth rate of 1.9 percent compared with a national growth rate of 1.8 percent.
