The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says an Iron Range woman was not injured when the SUV she was driving became stuck in snow near railroad tracks and was struck by a train.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Highway 68 east of the Brown Road in Sandy Township, about ten miles north of Virginia.  The sheriff's office says a 53-year-old Virginia woman was driving a GMC Envoy that left the roadway and became stuck in the snow near the tracks.

The train conductor saw the vehicle and attempted to stop the train, but the train ended up hitting the front of the SUV in a slow-speed collision.

The driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash but escaped injury.  She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
