It's four stories tall, with a fitness center, conference rooms, and an auditorium.

And on Tuesday, maurices announced the retailer is giving away its Duluth headquarters building.

Maurices is donating the building on the 100 block of West Superior St. to the University of Minnesota Duluth.

"What a great partnership we've had with UMD over the years," maurices President George Goldfarb said during a press conference announcing the move. "They've got a great community need. They're bringing in programming and services into Downtown Duluth."

UMD plans to use the space for teaching several courses and to support some back office functions to free up space on campus.

Meanwhile, the maurices headquarters will move to a new corporate tower about 3 blocks away when construction is finished in December of 2015.
