A Duluth man accused of stabbing a Superior cab driver Thursday night has been charged with two felonies.

21-year-old Antonio Romeo Newman is accused of stabbing a Courtesy Cab driver multiple times in the chest and hands after getting a ride from Lady Vi's, 628 Tower Avenue.  The stabbing happened around 8 p.m. in the 2600 block of North 28th Street, which is in the Billings Park neighborhood.

The driver eventually disarmed the assailant, who fled on foot.  Newman was arrested a few hours later in the 700 block of Tower Avenue after police gathered physical evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Newman was initially taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and is now charged with felony attempted murder and felony armed robbery.  He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The driver's injuries are not life-threatening.
