City of Duluth Unveils New Website, Mobile App Still to Come

Created: 01/28/2014 5:50 PM WDIO.com

The City of Duluth is unveiling a new online look.

City leaders tell Eyewitness News that their website has gone through more than a makeover. Customer service links, like bill pay and property searches are the most popular, so now they're on the front page. The website is also easier to share on social media -through websites like Facebook and Twitter.

According to Duluth Community Relations Officer Daniel Fanning, these changes are just the beginning. "Starting in probably just a month or two the city will launch our first mobile app. That will be an interactive map. Following that we're going to have more of a customer service app so you can report everything from 'my street hasn't been plowed yet,' or 'there's a pothole there,' or you can compliment city staff."

Fanning said the website redesign didn't cost the city extra money because it was created by city employees. He called the unveiling of the new website a soft launch, and expects bugs to be smoothed out by the end of the week.
