Created: 01/14/2014 4:51 PM WDIO.com

An autopsy has found that a Babbitt homicide victim died of manual strangulation resulting in asphyxiation, police said Tuesday.

55-year-old Paul John Bulen of Mahtomedi, Minn., was found laying in Astor Road with injuries Monday morning and later died at the Ely hospital.  An autopsy was conducted Tuesday by the St. Louis County Medical Examiner.

A 24-year-old suspect, from Babbitt, is being held on a possible charge of second-degree intentional homicide.  Police Chief Chad Loewen said formal charges are expected later this week.

St. Louis County Lt. Ed Kippley said Monday this was not a random incident. He said the parties knew each other and did not believe anyone else in the community was involved.
