Rapids Man Charged with 15 Felonies

Authorities say a Grand Rapids man has been charged with 15 crimes, in connection with a string of church burglaries dating back to June.

Danny Edward Madsen, 42, faces burglary, attempted burglary, aiding and abetting receiving stolen property, and aiding and abetting possession of burglary tools.

The criminal complaint said the break in the case came on Christmas Day, when a deputy was responding to the most recent burglary. He found Madsen in a vehicle nearby.

After a search warrant was executed at Madsen's home the next day, deputies found what they say are numerous items from the burglaries, including Tvs, a laptop, Xbox, and a table and four chairs.

The complaint said a woman who lives with Madsen admitted to authorities she and the defendant committed the crimes.

Madsen's bail was set at $75,000 without conditions, and $50,000 with conditions, including having no contact with any church in Itasca County.

    Authorities have located 76-year-old Adrienne De Vries at the Soudan Underground Mine State Park. De Vries is an employee of the park, and lost her way when walking down a trail. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department says she was transported to Ely Hospital to get checked as a precautionary.
