Man Charged in Alleged Stabbing Outside Cloquet Bar

A Sawyer man is in custody after police said he stabbed another man outside The Jack bar in Cloquet.

The Cloquet Police Department said it happened at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. An officer spotted a fight on the east side of the bar.

37-year-old Scott Alexander Blacketter faces two felony counts of assault, along with the crimes of fleeing on foot and obstruction of the legal process.

Officers said Blacketter was found holding a knife. When an officer tried to approach and apprehend him, they said the he broke free and ran away.

Blacketter was later found and arrested.

A 28-year-old Cloquet man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

    The Minnesota State Patrol said one person was killed and two others seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident in Cass County. The accident happened on Highway 64 just before 2 p.m. on Saturday.

    Traffic may be moving slower than normal travelling south on Interstate 35 near Cloquet starting Monday. MnDOT says a stretch from County Rd. 3 to Highway 33 will be reduced to a single lane for about two weeks.
