Firefighters responded to a motel fire Saturday afternoon in Duluth.

Assistant Fire Chief Erik Simonson said they responded at about 1:30 p.m. He said there was a fire in a unit at the Allyndale Motel, 510 N. 66th Avenue W.

Simonson said the fire was contained to the ceiling and the cause was thought to be electrical. He said it was easily extinguished and they were only on scene for about an hour.

The unit was unoccupied and no one was injured, but the fire caused about $20,000 in damages, according to Simonson.
