Police Seize Cash, Ammo at Carlson's Home

Created: 12/19/2013 4:11 PM WDIO.com

Police officers seized cash, suspected drugs, and other items during a raid of the home of Jim Carlson, the owner of the controversial Last Place on Earth store in Duluth.

Officers from Duluth and Superior and the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed the search warrant at Carlson's Superior home on Wednesday morning.  Duluth Police reported seizing suspected synthetic drugs, suspected marijuana, $750,000 in cash, body armor, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines from the home.

Carlson is currently in jail awaiting sentencing after a jury convicted him in October on 51 counts related to the sale of synthetic drugs.  Last week, U.S. Marshals sealed the Last Place on Earth store and cataloged property after a federal judge ruled that Carlson will forfeit the store and other assets.

Police did not make any arrests connected to Wednesday's search and say the case is ongoing.
