Duluth's Hmong Community celebrated their traditional new year Saturday.

The celebration included traditional Hmong food and a program with music, storytelling and dance. Organizer Cher Pao Vang said about 16 Hmong families live in Duluth, but they weren't the only ones celebrating. The event drew close to 400 people.

Vang said he was especially glad some second-generation Hmong people came.

"We are really happy that our ... local college students came to join with us today, too," he said. "This is one of the ways our first generations, the elders, pass onto the new generation our cultures."
