1 Seriously Injured in Highway 53 Crash

One person is seriously injured after a car crash on Highway 53 near Independence Saturday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2000 Chevy Cavalier ran off the road going northbound on Highway 53 just before midnight. Troopers said the car went into the trees.

Authorities said the car's passenger, 26-year-old Annie Sabrowski of Saginaw, was seriously injured. The driver, 25-year-old Gideon Martin, suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

They are both in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, according to troopers.
