1 Dead, 3 Injured in Itasca County Crash

An Apple Valley man is dead after a crash on an icy Highway 2, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the crash happened in Itasca County, about two miles east of Swan River at 2:13 p.m. Friday. 

One vehicle, driven by 67-year-old Alice Lemke of Bigfork, lost control, crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle, 38-year-old Aeron Hammargren of Apple Valley, was pronounced dead on the scene.

His two passengers, 12-year-old Chloe Hammargren and 13-year-old Justic Hammargren, were transported to  St. Mary's in Duluth with serious injuries.

Lemke was also transported to Duluth with serious injuries.
