The 50th anniversary of the John F. Kennedy assassination is coming up later this month, and a retired police detective has a new theory on the killing.
Colin McLaren is the author of "JFK: The Smoking Gun." His findings are detailed in a docudrama airing nationally Sunday on REELZChannel. McLaren spent more than four years reviewing testimony and evidence in the case. He believes Lee Harvey Oswald did fire shots that day, but says the bullets he was using weren't what killed Kennedy.
"This bullet simply does not fit in there," he said. "It's simply impossible. So forensically, they were wrong in saying that headshot wound belongs to Lee Harvey Oswald. Logically, and I think we've got to get down to logic sometimes, it just doesn't work."
McLaren said the wound could have been caused by the bullets that were loaded in Secret Service weapons that day. He found there was not a conspiracy, but says there was a coverup.
