Duluth fire officials are investigating what caused a fire at a vacant duplex Monday afternoon.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from a house at 519 East 6th Street just before 12:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they "observed significant smoking coming from several windows on the first floor. Crews discovered fire in the basement and first floor of the structure."
Fire officials said the blaze was put out quickly. No one was injured, but they said damage to the structure is estimated at $30,000.
Twenty fire personnel and five pieces of fire equipment from the Downtown, UMD and Lincoln Park stations responded to the fire.
