A homeless man is in custody after authorities say he attacked two people at their homes in St. Louis and Carlton counties.
37-year-old Scott Obrecht faces assault, burglary, and firearm theft charges. The criminal complaint from Carlton County said he used an ax handle as a weapon against a homeowner, after allegedly bursting into a home on the Morris Thomas Road near Hermantown last Thursday evening.
Authorities say he grabbed the man inside, and demanded guns and ammunition. The two struggled, according to authorities, and the homeowner was hit twice in the head with a firearm.
Less than two hours later, deputies in Carlton County responded to a home near Mahtowa. There, they found the suspect allegedly attacking the homeowner.
