Family members who have lost loved ones in the past year got a chance to remember Sunday.
Essentia Health hosted a celebration of life for everyone who passed away in St. Mary's Hospice in the previous year. The ceremony is an annual event.
Family members get to share memories with the staff members who made their loved ones comfortable in their last days. Guests also receive a candle when they walk in the door. Vern Saxe, who works in patient and family support at St. Mary's Hospice, said the candles represent those who passed away.
"We put them up on these special tables up front," he said. "And so we have a representation of all the people who are here and the light that they want to remember their loved ones by."
Saxe said they remembered 600 to 700 people Sunday.
