Halloween is just around the corner, and the Lake Superior Zoo is getting spooky.
The annual "Boo at the Zoo" event drew families from around the Northland on Saturday for some Halloween fun. Kids enjoyed treats, games and activities, and a record number of treat stations.
Kim Possible, the cheerleader-superhero of kids' TV programming lore, was present. She's also known as Kim Matteen, the marketing and membership director at the zoo.
"We've got thousands of little ones running around the zoo today," she said. "They're in costumes, they're sugared up, they're candied up. Our animals are ready for their extra-special enrichments that are all Halloween-themed."
Matteen said there is also a live mermaid to take pictures with the kids. The only other chance to attend will be next Saturday, Oct. 19.
