The results are in from a survey about how employees, businesses, property owners and residents view downtown Duluth.

The survey, conducted by the Greater Downtown Council, asked individuals about any changes they have noticed in the central business district since July.

Here are the results:

  • 45 percent of respondents say it has become more inviting and appealing
  • 39 percent of respondents say it feels safer
  • 30 percent of business owners say retail sales have increased
  • 40 percent of business owners say pedestrian and walk-in traffic is up

According to GDC President Kristi Stokes, "these are positive findings for our downtown...many comments from respondents related to diminished problems following the temporary closure of the Last Place on Earth. We will continue to focus on making downtown a destination that is clean, safe and friendly."

The Last Place on Earth closed for the first time in July. The store opened again at least once time since then, but is now closed.
