An ordinance has gone into effect in Hibbing, that regulates synthetic drugs similiarly to Duluth.
Hibbing City Clerk Patrick Garrity says that it's "their full intent to keep synthetics out of Hibbing."
The unanimously-passed ordinance requires shops selling synthetic drugs, like incense or bath salts, to obtain a permit from the City. It went into effect on Tuesday, Oct. 1st.
Garrity says that it is completely a preventative measure, since there are no shops selling synthetics in Hibbing.
But City Administrator Tom Dichlich says their work is not done, adding, "We plan to keep working on another ordinance to stay ahead of this issue."
