A Duluth-based record label has earned a spot on a top ten list of best record labels in the state.

The list put out by the Twin Cities weekly alternative magazine City Pages, puts Chaperone Records in the company of the comapanies representing artists like Poliça, Atmosphere, and STNNNG  heavyweights in the Metro music scene.

"It really is an honor to honor to be ranked among some of those labels," said Chaperone Creative Director Bob Monahan, while noting that Chaperone is the only label on the list not based out of the Twin Cities area.

"What we're doing for the community, for the greater music community, is just giving us more presence, and I think this poll in a lot of ways is proof of that," he said. "It's good exposure for the whole town."

Chaperone Records, which recently celebrated its first birthday, boasts local acts like Southwire, Charlie Parr, and Retribution Gospel Choir, among others.
