There were no indications of a set fire during the investigation of the fire that destroyed the Gordon Fire Hall, according to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office report.
A Douglas County Sheriff's sergeant assisted the State Fire Marshal's office with the investigation of the fire hall Friday.
According to the report, at the end of the day they learned the origin of the fire was in the southeast corner of the office area and nothing suspicious was noted. The cause is undetermined.
Douglas County has closed the case and has referred the file to the State Fire Marshal's office.
Authorities say the fire broke out at the Gordon Fire Hall around noon Thursday. Four local fire departments responded and put out the blaze. The building, six vehicles, and the volunteer department's personal equipment was a total loss.
Gordon Fire Chief Mike Chmielecki says rough estimates put the damage at "well over" $1 million.
