The weather was finally right for hot air balloons over the weekend.
The balloons inflated Saturday afternoon in Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park. Before they were able to be inflated, the flames were still a good show for guests, and the Duluth Kiwanis Club had 3,000 kites to give away to kids.
The balloons were grounded Friday night, but on Saturday pilots were hopeful.
"We think the wind is going to come down to just 4 or 5 miles per hour, and we should be able to inflate all 10 balloons," said pilot Ed Chapman. "We hope to have one or two tethered on ropes, you know, go up and down and give people little short rides."
Chapman also expected the weather to be perfect for takeoff Sunday morning at 7 a.m.
