A first-of-its-kind center has opened in Duluth, offering a new place for expectant mothers to give birth.
The Morning Star Women's Health and Birth Center has examination rooms, three birth suites and lounges. The center offers delivery and post-natal care to mothers and babies in a home-like setting.
"We've heard through the years that women in the Twin Ports really are desiring an option to home birth and hospital birth," said Paula Bernini Feigal, CPM, LM, the facility's CEO and Executive Director.
Janell Hirschoff plans to give birth to her third child at Morning Star after giving birth to her first two children in hospitals. "I don't think I'm the type of person who could have a home birth. That would just stress me out too much," she said. "But this is as close to a home birth as you can get without actually being in your home."
Morning Star is located inside a century-old mansion at 1730 East Superior Street which was most recently home to the Human Development Center. More information is available at http://www.morningstarbirth.com/duluth.
