A Duluth man is in custody after allegedly stealing cigarettes from a gas station, causing a car accident, and fighting with police officers.

Duluth police say the 20 year old man pulled out of his driveway and caused a head-on crash on Trinity Rd. in Duluth.

Police say he then went to the nearby Cenex gas station, got cigarettes, and refused to pay for them. He then started running back to his home, which police say is in the neighborhood. When police caught up with him, he allegedly fought the officers.

The man is now being held for a 72 hour mental health evaluation, and charges are pending.

No one was injured in the accident.
