The Saint Louis County Board gets together for the first time since Commissioner Steve O'Neil passed away.

The first thing they talked about at their workshop Monday was how to fill the District 2 open position.

There are a few things that can happen; special election, special primary election or appointment.

The soonest a special election can be held is December 3. For a special primary, County Attorney Mark Rubin suggested holding it on the same day as Duluth's General Election on November 5.

The board is expected to declare the position's vacancy at Tuesday's meeting.
