Duluth Police were called to St. Luke's at 12:13 p.m. Saturday for a man balancing on a ledge outside a broken third-floor window.
Police said synthetic drugs were involved. The man had broken a window and cut himself, and was threatening to jump, according to police.
Streets were blocked off and after 2 1/2 hours, police and hospital staff convinced the man to come down.
Three officers went up on a fire department ladder truck and brought the man to safety. He was eventually released to hospital staff.
