A Grand Rapids man faces an attempted murder charge after police said he stabbed another man in the chest.

Joshua Joseph Julien was charged with four felonies and two misdemeanors in Itasca County Court Wednesday. Charges included second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Police said 28-year-old Julien stabbed 23-year-old Kyle William Johnson several times at a Grand Rapids home. Witnesses said Julien stabbed Johnson in his bed.

Johnson is in fair condition at a Duluth hospital. Officials said the motive behind the crime is under investigation, but said the suspect and victim knew each other.

Julien's next court date is set for July 22.
