Tuesday afternoon, police in Grand Rapids responded to a call of an assault.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Pokegama Avenue North. They found a 22-year-old man with a knife wound to his chest. He has now been identified as Kyle William Johnson, of Grand Rapids. He is in fair condition at a hospital in Duluth.
The suspect, a 28-year-old man, had fled the scene on foot. Officers from the police department and the Itasca County Sheriff's department set up a perimeter in a small wooded area near the scene. He was arrested and taken to the jail.
Charges are pending. He is expected to be in court on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said that the two men did know eachother, and the crime does not appear to be random. The motive is still under investigation.
