A new candidate announced her bid for a City Council seat Sunday.
Barb Russ plans to file for an at-large seat at noon on Monday. She announced her bid Sunday afternoon in Lincoln Park.
Russ worked as an attorney in the County Attorney's Office for 33 years before retiring in February.
Russ said much of her experience is in economic development.
She said she wants to work with the school district to provide Parks and Recreation programming for youth. Russ also wants to focus on repairing Duluth's streets.
Russ is currently on the Community Action Duluth board, and she previously served on the board for Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault (PAVSA).
Russ said friends have suggested she run for City Council before, and now that she's retired she feels that it's another way to serve the community.
