Grandma's Marathon would have been unpleasant without all those big tents in Canal park. Doucette's Tent Rental, the company that rents them out, said this is one of their busiest weeks of the year. In all, they put up more than 45 for the weekend events.
General Manager Phillip Doucette said his staff is more than doubled for this week.
"When we start preparing for it, the first tent goes up on Monday of last week and the last tent will come down tomorrow," he said. "So it's a whole week of just concentrating on the marathon."
Some of those workers are putting in 60- to 70-hour weeks. Doucette's will also be providing tents for the tall ships, which is another of their busiest weeks of the year.
