Bob Dylan is coming home to Duluth for a concert this summer.
An announcement Monday afternoon confirmed that Bob Dylan & His Band will come to Duluth and play at Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park in July.
Wilco, My Morning Jacket and the Richard Thompson Electric Trio will also be performing.
"Bayfront is an excellent venue to have shows of this size," Mayor Don Ness said. "We know there is going to be a tremendous amount of excitement for this particular show."
Dan Russell, the DECC executive director, told Eyewitness News the capacity of Bayfront is 12,500 people. He said this show could sell out.
In the summer of 1999, Dylan performed at Bayfront with Paul Simon. About 20,000 tickets were sold.
Meanwhile, Russell said "it's really one of the summer's largest, if not the largest tour, so we certainly expect it will do incredibly well here in Duluth...I have no doubt people will come from a long way to see Bob Dylan in his hometown."
He said the show is one that puts Bayfront "on the map" as a festival park.
The concert begins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, and is presented by Jam Productions and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).
All tickets are general admission and will go on sale on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $68.
Tickets will be available online at TICKETMASTER.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 and at the DECC box office and other TICKETMASTER locations.
“The DECC has always been committed to bringing excellent entertainment to the people of this region, and that also extends to our programming as managers of Bayfront Festival Park’s entertainment,” said DECC Board President Deb Messer said in a release. “It’s going to be a great evening, and we look forward to seeing everyone there.”
