Update: Victim, Suspect Identified in Superior Homicide

Police say the victim in Thursday's shooting was Terrance Rodney Luukkonen of Duluth. Luukkonen was 46. Charges have been filed in Douglas County Circuit Court against Juan Leonardo Padilla, 41, of Fort Mohave, Ariz., in connection with the shooting at Genesis Attachments in Superior Thursday.
According to the filing, Padilla is charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.
Police said Padilla was identified during the investigation Thursday afternoon and located at the Allyndale Motel in Duluth. Duluth Police assisted in responding and he was taken into custody around 6 p.m.
Earlier in the afternoon officers responded to a report of a person with a self-inflicted gunshot in the parking lot of Genesis Attachments in Superior.
Upon arrival, officers located Luukkonen with at least one gunshot wound. The incident was initially reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to 911.
Luukkonen was transported to Essentia Health in Duluth where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Padilla is being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a Douglas County warrant for First Degree Intentional Homicide.
