Duluth police say a bicyclist was killed Wednesday when he struck a pole.

Two officers saw 36-year-old Koantonio Dean Farley riding his bike down 1st Ave. East at a high rate of speed at 5:40 p.m.

Farley, a Duluth resident formerly of Chicago, crossed Superior St. and attempted to go up the ramp to Lake Place Park when he hit the pole.

The officers provided first aid and Farley was transported to St. Luke's via ambulance.

Duluth Police said on their Facebook page that Farley was not wearing a helmet.
