A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after being beaten late on April 21, according to the Duluth Police Department. They say four people are in custody in connection with the crime.
Officers responded to Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital-Superior at 11:07 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 to investigate a man's injury.
Police say they were initially told that the man was located lying in a road near Belknap Street and Ohio Avenue, but officers have determined that the initial version of events was inaccurate and there were suspicious circumstances.
The victim had life threatening injuries and was transferred to Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth for emergency surgery.
Investigation done by Duluth and Superior police revealed the man was assaulted on Skyline Parkway and Earl Street in Duluth. They said the victim was with four individuals when he was assaulted, then brought to Superior to a residence before being dropped off at the hospital.
Authorities said Chad Loren Siegel, 40, and a 39-year-old woman have been arrested and are being held in the Douglas County Jail pending formal charges. The woman has not been charged, but they said St. Louis County has an active warrant on Siegel for murder, assault and kidnapping. He is awaiting extradition.
Jason Micheal Carlsness, 29, was arrested in Duluth Friday and transported to the St. Louis County Jail on felony attempted murder, assault and kidnapping warrants.
Terrance Gewel Yance, 27, was arrested in St. Paul on Friday evening, also on felony attempted murder, assault and kidnapping warrants.
