The flood of 2012 had our emergency responders working with every bit of training they had, to keep us calm and safe.

And it's made an impression on them. At the Under One Roof 2013 Conference at the DECC in Duluth, they told us it makes the training more relatable.

Cindy Crestik is a chaplain and Red Cross Volunteer. She went to the conference last year, which she said provided so much help during the flood. And now, she feels more prepared for what to do to help.

Joanne Erspamer works for Carlton County. She said networking and relationships are key to making sure coordination during a disaster goes smoothly. They are still using what they learned during the flood, to prepare for future problems.

The conference started three years ago, and has grown from 160 people to 300. It runs through Thursday.

If you're feeling stressed out about flooding from last year, because of recent flood warnings, there is help available.  Call: (800) 634-8775
