The military honored a Minnesota Power supervisor Wednesday for supporting service members.
The employee support of the Guard and Reserve Committee with the Department of Defense presented Diana McFadden with the Patriot Award.
148th Fighter Wing Captain Jennifer Peterson nominated McFadden for the award.
Peterson said "Diana afforded me a flexible work schedule in the month prior to my deployment so I was able to make it to the base and make it to the training events that we had scheduled so that I felt ready to deploy, and that was really huge in my comfort level."
Also receiving the award this week, Itasca County Sheriff Victor Williams. He said "as a public leader I believe that it is our duty to protect the interest of our veterans so that they can have greater peace of mind while serving our country."
There are about 20,000 reservists and National Guard members in Minnesota. Only one percent of reservists nominate their employees for the award.
