The Minnesota DNR wants to remind ice fishers that ice shelters north of Hwy 2 need to be removed no later than midnight on Monday, March 18th.
Anglers on Minnesota-Canada border waters have until March 31st.
The DNR says that if shelters are left after the deadlines, enforcement actions will be taken and fishers could be prosecuted.
"Anglers should also remove any refuse or litter from the lake," said Capt. Ken Soring of the DNR's enforcement division. "Wood blocks used to support a shelter or any type of anchoring device needs to be removed."
After removal dates, shelters may remain on the ice only between midnight and one hour before sunrise when occupied or attended.
