Former Grand Lake Fire Chief Passes Away

A beloved former Grand Lake Township fire chief passed away Friday.
The Grand Lake Fire Department said Dave Fremling died due to complications with Mesothelioma. Fremling was a firefighter with the department for 28 years.
Fremling was diagnosed with stage three Mesothelioma back in December 2011.
Last April, his fellow firefighters and friends held a fundraiser for Fremlng in Cloquet to help with his mounting medical business. That benefit got attention statewide. Organizers said checks came in from across the state.
