Man Dead After Iron County Snowmobile Accident

An Illinois man is dead after a snowmobile accident in Iron County Saturday.
The Iron County Sheriffs Office said it happened just after 5 p.m. near Popko Circle West in Mercer. Deputies said two snowmobilers were riding in opposite directions when they collided.
Wisconsin DNR officials said one snowmoblier landed on top of another after cresting a hill.
Officials said a 43-year-old Bloomington, Ill. man died at an area hospital because of the accident. The other snowmobiler, a 42-year-old man also from Illinois, was injured and treated at the scene.
Names of the victims are not being released until family is notified.
Deputies said the accident is still being investigated and speed is believed to be a factor.
